South Africa is as popular a business destination as it is for its beautiful scenery and coastal features. Thousands of tourists flock to the country every year for business tours. This can be attributed to the country’s meticulous business environment, but it is also safe to say that the South African natural environment just feels right for making a deal.
The tourism department has also contributed greatly to the growth of trade tourism by offering support and infrastructure to tourists who visit for business reasons. The Tourism Grading Council is the authorized body tasked with verifying accommodation outfits before they put their stars on display.
The body is so keen on detail that it is very hard for a hotel to achieve five-star status. Some of the resorts that are highly ranked by tourists still display three stars on their publications.
While Johannesburg and Pretoria are arguably the country’s biggest economy movers, Limpopo has established itself as the major tourism business area. Most conferences and business trips head to this location. Popular South African republic business area resorts include:
Mopani Conference Center, Kruger National Park (Three Stars)
The 300-capacity resort provides 53 cottages that can accommodate between three and six guests each. It is popular for delegates’ meetings as it offers great scenic views within the park during conference breaks. A true mix of business and pleasure.
Protea Hotel The Park, Mokopane ( Three Stars)
This resort can accommodate up to 400 business conference attendees with seminars held in a cinema-style setting. There are 85 accommodation areas and nine separate meeting venues.
Legend Golf and Safari Resort (Five Stars)
This is one of the only few resorts to get the five-star accreditation. The resort accommodates up to 500 guests in an executive setting. This includes two golf courses and 220 accommodation areas. There are ‘Big Five’ game drives within the course of business tours held here.
